Introduction
Instagram Follower Analyzer Lite ("the Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use our Chrome extension.
TL;DR: We don't collect, store, or transmit ANY of your data to external servers. Everything stays on your device.
Data Collection
We do NOT collect any personal data.
The Extension does NOT:
- ❌ Collect personally identifiable information (PII)
- ❌ Track your browsing activity
- ❌ Send data to remote servers
- ❌ Use analytics or tracking services
- ❌ Share data with third parties
- ❌ Sell or monetize your data
Data Storage
All data generated by the Extension is stored locally on your device using:
- Chrome Storage API (chrome.storage.local) - For extension settings and small data
- IndexedDB - For analysis results and historical data
This data includes:
- Instagram follower/following lists analyzed by the Extension
- Analysis timestamps and statistics
- User preferences (whitelist, filters, etc.)
Your data never leaves your device.
Permissions Explanation
The Extension requests the following permissions:
1. activeTab
Why: Required to interact with Instagram pages when you click the extension icon. Usage: Allows the Extension to read follower/following data from Instagram pages you are currently viewing. Data Access: Only when you actively click the Extension and initiate an analysis.
2. storage
Why: Required to save analysis results locally on your device. Usage: Stores analysis history, user preferences, and whitelist data in your browser's local storage. Data Access: Only accessible by the Extension on your device.
3. tabs
Why: Required to open Instagram profiles in new tabs when you click on user links. Usage: Opens Instagram.com URLs in new tabs for your convenience. Data Access: No data is collected from tabs; this permission is only used to create new tabs.
4. Host Permission: https://www.instagram.com/*
Why: Required to analyze follower data on Instagram pages. Usage: The Extension injects scripts into Instagram pages to intercept and analyze follower/following API responses. Data Access: Only reads publicly available follower data that Instagram already shows you. Does NOT access private messages, passwords, or account credentials.
Data Security
- ✅ All data is stored locally using Chrome's secure storage APIs
- ✅ No data transmission to external servers
- ✅ No third-party services or analytics
- ✅ No advertising networks
- ✅ No tracking cookies
Your Instagram credentials are NEVER accessed or stored by the Extension.
Third-Party Services
The Extension does NOT use any third-party services, including:
- No analytics (Google Analytics, etc.)
- No crash reporting
- No advertising networks
- No social media integrations
- No external APIs (except Instagram's own API for reading follower data)
Data Retention
Analysis data is retained indefinitely on your device until you:
- Delete specific analyses manually within the Extension
- Clear your browser's local storage/IndexedDB
- Uninstall the Extension (automatically deletes all local data)
Data Deletion
To delete your data:

Delete specific analyses:
- Open the Extension dashboard
- Go to "History" tab
- Click "Delete" on any analysis

Delete all Extension data:
- Right-click the Extension icon → "Manage Extension"
- Click "Remove from Chrome"
- All local data is automatically deleted

Clear browser storage:
- Chrome Settings → Privacy and Security → Clear browsing data
- Select "Site settings" and "Hosted app data"
Instagram's Terms of Service
This Extension interacts with Instagram's public API to read follower/following data. By using this Extension, you agree to comply with Instagram's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
We are NOT affiliated with Instagram, Meta Platforms, Inc., or any of their subsidiaries.
The Extension includes built-in rate limiting to avoid violating Instagram's API limits, but we cannot guarantee that using this Extension will never result in temporary restrictions from Instagram.
Use at your own risk.
Children's Privacy
The Extension is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you are under 13, please do not use this Extension.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document.
For significant changes, we will notify users via:
- Extension update notes in the Chrome Web Store
- In-app notification when you open the Extension
Your Rights (GDPR Compliance)

- Right to Access: You can access all your data by opening the Extension dashboard
- Right to Deletion: You can delete all data by uninstalling the Extension
- Right to Portability: You can export your data as CSV files using the Extension's export feature

Since all data is stored locally and never transmitted, we cannot "access" your data remotely.
